Winter exhibition

Winter exhibition
We are proud to announce our Winter Exhibition at Kanaal:

Saturday November 30th from 11 a.m. till 9 p.m.
Sunday December 1st from 2 p.m. till 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday December 7th & 8th from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m.

In the recently renovated warehouses of Coussée and Goris we present the work of the Japanese artist Shiro Tsujimura.  A playful sense of freedom and self-confidence sets him apart from other contemporary potters.  Independent, he creates his own style and his own techniques, always linked however  to the traditions of the past.  Tsujimura’s art and approach are founded on the power and purity of the earth, and its relationship and transformation in the kiln by fire and through time.  Cracks and "flaws" are valued for their intensity and express a contemporary monumentality.

Wandering through Kanaal, you will discover a selection of interesting archaeology, some remarkable design pieces, among which a powerful desk by Warren Platner from 1970 and a table from Jules Wabbes in wenge end grain wood. In the loft we present contemporary works by Nitsch, Shiraga and Shimamoto and in the white room historical work of the Gutai leader Yoshihara and a poetic grey Fontana are juxtaposed with a recent silver sculpture by Anish Kapoor.
