Fair description
Axel Vervoordt is pleased to participate in the 2025 edition of TEFAF Maastricht at the MECC.
Our selection features historic works by Ida Barbarigo, Raimund Girke, Tsuyoshi Maekawa, Masatoshi Masanobu, Zoran Music, Roman Opalka, Kazuo Shiraga, Ryuji Tanaka, Günther Uecker, and Jef Verheyen.
Roman Opalka’s two Cartes des Voyage, part of his 1965/1-∞ project, documenting time’s passage is one of this year’s highlights. These consecutive, inseparable works reflect his commitment to catalogue infinity in a philosophical, performative painting practice. Historic pieces are in dialogue with contemporary artists such as Peter Buggenhout, Kimsooja, Sopheap Pich, Ann Leda Shapiro, and Bosco Sodi. Sopheap Pich’s Sun Blind (2023), made from cooking pots and kettles, reflects Cambodian life post-Khmer Rouge and resonates with a Bayon-style Khmer deity head from Jayavarman VII’s reign.
