Sadaharu Horio joined the historic Japanese group, Gutai Art Association, in 1966 and expanded on the members' avant-garde spirit with an impressive body of experimental work over several decades. He was a pioneer in modern Kobe performance art with a significant influence on Japan's contemporary art scene. In Japan, he's often considered to be one the most important artists of his generation.
