Norio Imai
Book description
Catalogue of the exhibition Norio Imai - White Event at Axel Vervoordt Gallery (14 March - 21 April 2013).
Norio Imai (°1946, Osaka) is the youngest member of the Japanese avant-garde movement Gutai. With his work he creates a monumental, monochrome white silence in space. For the artist, white is the ultimate colour, a non-colour combining all colours in perfect harmony. White is a full emptiness. Imai’s work goes beyond form and emanates a cosmic force.
This book was presented in preview at the opening of Gutai: Splendid Playground at the Guggenheim museum in New York (15 February - 8 May 2013).
