Hong Kong Spotlight by Art Basel

Axel Vervoordt Gallery is pleased to participate in Hong Kong Spotlight by Art Basel, a showcase of Hong Kong galleries who have exhibited at Art Basel Hong Kong. In collaboration with Fine Art Asia, this unique platform is a united response to support and bring together the city’s visual arts community during these challenging times. Hong Kong Spotlight is open November 26-30, 2020, with exclusive VIP access on Thursday, November 26^th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

For this occasion, the gallery will present a solo stand by Japanese artist Yuko Nasaka (b. 1938, Osaka), with works from the 1960s to 1980s in dialogue with her recent creations from 2015 to 2017. Nasaka was one of the few female members of the Gutai Art Association. She joined in 1963 and became a key member of the group’s second-generation activities. Nasaka’s work is inventive, experimental, and highly original. She displays a masterful use of technology and cutting-edge industrial materials — two hallmarks of Gutai — through her use of brightly-hued car lacquer.
