Jaffa Lam's large installation "Trolley Party" (2023) is now on display in the exhibition "A Constellation of Cities: Contemporary Art and Experiment in Southern China and Beyond" at GDMoA, Guangdong. The exhibition "attempts to incorporate the domestic urban agglomeration centered on Beijing and Shanghai into the framework of comparison, and extends to Southeast Asia, Asia and Western art fields with oriental elements, in the hope of exploring the diversity of the South's cultural and artistic networks and the contours of cross-border exchanges and connections in the light of each other. As a matter of fact, the interweaving of multiple centers is becoming a cultural tendency, and their stars and dots are clustered into chains, which in turn become nets, eliminating rigid boundaries. On the one hand, 'South' is based on geography, but on the other hand, it transcends this regionalized construction and represents more of a creative perspective. It will lead us into the jungle of diverse and complex artistic practices and the relationships between history, thought and culture that are deeply connected to them.
