From 12 June, the Socle du Monde Biennale, named after the pedestal for the world that Piero Manzoni placed there in 1961, is being held at various locations in the Danish city of Herning. The socle is an iconic work in Manzoni’s oeuvre; a visual translation of his conceptual view that artists should not limit themselves to working only with a few, specifically artistic materials. Since 2002, the Herning biennale has reminded of this concept. With 'Archive of Mind', the installation that was previously shown in Venice, Seoul, Salem (Massachusetts) and Poitiers, Kimsooja invites to a state of contemplation and reflection, through the idea of bundling – the central notion in her practice. Visitors are encouraged to engage with Kimsooja's performative worldview, as they shape balls of clay and transform the art pieces and Kimsooja's story, piece by piece.

In St. John's Church, a few kilometres away from the HEART Museum of Contemporary Art where Kimsooja's installation is on display, El Anatsui shows one of his expressive, woven metal tapestries, made by using copper wire to sew together small pieces of metal from e.g. bottle tops and cans.

On the occasion of the Biennale, Kimsooja's Deductive Object was also reinstalled in Herning, as a reminder of the 2017 edition, where it was initially placed in juxtaposition with an installation by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov.
