Displayed in a separate section of the booth, Axel Vervoordt Gallery will showcase Ann Leda Shapiro's historical and recent watercolour works for the Kabinett sector of Art Basel. The presentation traces Shapiro's five decades-long exploration of life's intricate systems and landscapes of mind and body. Notably, she revisits previously censored work depicting gender-fluid bodies from a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum in 1973. Shapiro masterfully and compassionately visualises the flow of Qi, capturing the constant motion of Yin and Yang as the breath of life. Her artistic investigation of cosmic states of being underscores the symbiotic relationship between mind, body, and nature.
