Axel Vervoordt Gallery is honoured to announce the representation of American artist Ann Leda Shapiro. Her visionary work will be presented in her inaugural solo exhibition, Interconnected Worlds at Kanaal from March 15 to June 21, 2025. Following this presentation, the gallery will feature her work in the Kabinett section at Art Basel Hong Kong 2025. Her work was recently shown in the exhibition, Vital Signs: Artists and the Body at the MoMa in New York and has since been acquired for the museum's collection.
Ann Leda Shapiro (b.1946, New York) is an artist renowed for her vibrant, dreamlike works that explore themes of feminism, nature, and the human psyche. Her practice reimagines the human form as a dynamic, interconnected landscape, blurring the boundaries between self and environment.
Major institutions, such as The Museum of Modern Art, in New York, and the Seattle Art Museum, include Shapiro’s work in their collections. She has exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Madre Museum in Naples, and the Banff Art Centre. Shapiro’s work continues to resonate across generations, addressing timeless themes of healing, transformation, and the ongoing search for balance.
