Story of the exhibition
Silence and contemplation are poetic themes that recur in Zoran Music’s paintings. As a Slovenian painter who traveled frequently and found refuge in Venice and Paris throughout his lifetime, his paintings were profound impressions of landscapes—particularly Byzantine, Dalmatian, and Italian geographies. He painted large series with slightly different hues and perspectives. In the 1980s, he turned to obsessive examinations of cathedrals in his art-making—the magical shimmering of light and dark amplified the mystical sense of introspection and isolation.
