Korean artist Bae Bien-U presents an entirely new series of photographs taken in the city of Venice. For this special occasion, Bae spent last four seasons in Venice to question the origin of the city and its nature to pursue his lifelong passion to “paint with the light,” in other words, to photograph. Bae Bien-U’s artworks are investigation toward the human and the nature, which aesthetically challenges the mode of expression of the artist as the subject. While erasing himself as a subject, Bae employs a photographic space with tension of the existing and the non-existent, the body and the world, the unfathomable and fathomable, immersing the viewer in the gray reality of transiency and paradox.
